B Active

We encourage our employees and our consumers to live a healthier way of life, and we work with like-minded partners to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Driven by our founder’s spirit and motivated by our future, LRS is dedicated to supporting the communities in which we live and work, encouraging people to live well and thrive.

Our B Active programme and Made to Move campaign are just some of the ways in which we’re doing just that.

Active Communities Network

Active Communities Network (ACN) is a sport for development charity which uses sport and exercise as a pathway into education and training.

Wholeheartedly believing in the physical, social and mental benefits of sport, we partnered with ACN to launch the B Active programme, the first of its kind in the UK.

Backed by the LRS Movement Fund, the B Active programme aims to help young people aged 16-24 gain access to sport and forges new opportunities for young people to develop essential life skills.

Laying the foundations for a range of careers, volunteers of the programme have the opportunity to earn nationally recognised qualifications in enterprise, diversity & inclusion and developing community activities for youth at risk, to name a few.

The youth-led activity programme runs five days a week, 50 weeks of the year and is run by volunteers who support young people in leading informal sessions across a range of activities. Sessions focus on key health related issues such as diet, fitness and mental wellbeing.

The LRS Movement Fund has also funded an academic partner to undertake a three-year research led study to closely examine behavioural change over this period.

The Tuesday footy sessions with B Active are great; they give us somewhere to go and play without getting any ear-ache for playing with a ball on the streets from anyone. Getting together with mates and learning from the coaches and other volunteers - yes. I’ve done some of the training and am going to do more so I can then volunteer.
